I don’t like Condom Advertisements
Some say they’re promoting safe sex. I say they’re promoting SEX itself.
Go fuck someone and use me as protection.
I’m not against the RH Bill about using condoms and contraceptives but I just don’t like on how they promote SEX, safe sex I mean.

There’s a lot of printed ads on the LRT and most of the people who rides the LRT are students… So their target market are students eh?
“well, who else would use them? Old people? Let’s not be blind-sighted here. It’s imminent that the rate of pre-marital sex is increasing,(teen pregnancy, consequentially) why go against something that might lessen this? I dont get you people. “
i felt like my argument on my previous reply was lacking. I ran out of characters.
but anyways.
In a way, they ARE promoting sex. It is the PURPOSE of why the product was produced. And yes, they are targetting students which is a more fitting demographic compared to those in older age groups who are already financially stable and are able to provide for a family.
The point here is. they are also promoting SAFE SEX which for me is better than seeing homeless children on the streets and teenage parents who can’t afford to support them. Now, if that’s your idea of an ideal community, then by all means go against them.
There’s a right place where to educate students about this and the advertisement looks like they’re encouraging students to have sex and that’s just wrong. Even though Philippines is getting more liberated than before we should still value our Christian Values.
And shouldn’t be condoms are used for family planning and premarital sex? I know that student use it more often but a better approach for this is for family use not for some horny reason.
All I am saying is I don’t like their advertisement or how they showcase their product. because there’s a better way.
Both points well taken. I would like to ask first: What condom commercial are you pertaining?
First and foremost, studies have proven that SEX sells.
Next point, they ARE promoting CONDOMS, so expect that those commercials are “sex” related.
And there’s also the target market, different brands (kahit na pare-parehas pa sila ng product) have different target markets. For example, Frenzy targets the younger section, while Trust targets those who are older.

Yes. There is a much better way but the very point of making an advertisement is to sell. Marketers/Advertisers doesn’t care if their audience use their product for family-related reason or horny stuff, all they care is if their audience buys their product.
Nevertheless, like what jimmydasouped said, they are promoting safe sex. With the LRT and Students part, Yes, a large number of people who rides LRT are students. BUT, part lang sila ng audience sa LRT. Mas marami pa din ang mga yuppies/older people na sumasakay sa LRT.

there are ways to make these advertisements less harmful…less provocative…depende na yun sa gumagawa ng ads…kung ganito ang reaction ng majority…I think di sila effective on censoring and making the ad safe for all.
